New guy, just one question.

Alright, I currently have an older Celica but my wife and I are thinking of getting a Tacoma but I don't know what I should plan on spending for a brand new one. I want the Xtracab with the automatic V6, bedliner, tinted windows, and a rear sliding window. If anyone knows someplace near Idaho or on the internet where I can buy one of these trucks at a great price, let me know. Also let me know how much I should plan on forking out. I think it's around $22,000, but I know you guys know more than I do. Thanks a ton.

Suggestion

I would grab the invoice prices off Edmunds and ask a salesman how much below invoice they are willing to sell. You also get the 1.9% APR for 5 years if you buy before Nov 1. I just grabbed a 2004 for about $100 below invoice. The dealer still makes money as we know but it was the best deal I found out this way (Mass). My price was $23,176 for the 6 cyl, auto, Xtracab, 4WD, SR5, power windows, electronic 4WD switch, wheel locks, probably a few other things but I can't recall...

If price is a major consideration (it always is for me), you can get a better deal on a 2004 while there are a few in stock. The dealers' inventories of new vehicles are usually listed on the internet. You can get to them through the manufacturer's website. Let your fingers do the walking. Another possibility that has paid off for me is to check the dealers for relatively new (less than one year old) trucks that they might have in stock. Someone else has taken the depreciation. They are usually in great shape and frequently the manufacturer offers a generous warranty.

05 new design and more expensive

I was thinking about the 05 too. I like the fact that it will be bigger and with a larger engine. Then I learned the cost will go up approx. $9K (according to two dealers I called). Ouch! 50 more HP is not worth 9K. Plus a new design is more likely to have problems compared to a model that has been around for a long time.
