Can you tell me why this engine has a miss?
This is actually a small ode to the good ole 22R. This engine was driven to the next town from out in the middle of nowhere, really. It started the next day when we went to get it, and driven onto the dolly. Started again to drive it off. One thing of note, is that when the rod let go, it took out the oil pick-up tube, so there was no oil pressure either.
Yes, you're looking all the way through the block...
The other side...
A very unhappy rod cap...
Incidentally, this is all that's left of the rod, save for about an inch still attached to the piston. The rest presumably vacated through one of the above holes. I'm told that made a somewhat unnerving sound as it parted company with the rest of the engine, bounced off the inner fender and then clingity-clanged down the road...
Haven't pulled the oil pan yet, but I'm sure it looks great in there.
BTW, if anyone can tell me how to actually get these pics to show up in the message instead of links, feel free to let me know. I coudn't figure it out.

Thanks Dave,
I couldn't figure out how to do that.
I was just going to put in a can of that "Engine Restorer" and see if that helps.
BTW, this engine had 300,000 miles on it.

Well there really isn't a way from many of these picture hosting sites. I just uploaded the pics to my own page and linked to them. Most internet providers offer a bit of free webspace for their clients. All you have to do is setup an index or main page and then upload your pictures at will for linking at sites like this one. FWIW, you will find no links on my page to your pictures (and many other similar ones) but they are all there for direct access.
