'02 high idle at start

Hello all, I have my 02 tacoma which seems to idle very high when it is cold out, it idles at 2000 rpm sometimes, does any else have this problem? Mine does this only intermittant, I think it might possibly be a computer error. Any ideas?

The computer manages idle during warm up and then should slowly drop idle once it is warm....my buddy has a 01 and it idles around 1800 then slowly drops. My 91, idles at 1500 while cold then drops to its customary 750-800 when warm. High idle allows the engine to warm up quicker, move oil into the upper reaches of the engine quicker, etc. Hope this helps.

Yeah I know about high idles and warming the engine. just the almost 2000 rpm is really high compared to all the cars I've had. But if this is the normal setting for the tacoma now worries. Thanks

I would run it by a service tech at your local toyota dealership....they will be able to answer that one in a jiffy.
