Just purchased an 88' 4wd v6 regular cab. Truck runs great but really need to get it looking better and riding better. New set of Rancho RS 5000 shocks were just put on about 2 weeks ago. Overall truck is in good condition as far as body condition and things for having just rolled over 237,000.
I really need a good resource for finding some new parts and maybe a new paint job, a new truck bed is in need, probably after the winter season. I just registered with this forum today, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
ME: Adam, college aged med student
MINES: 88' Toyota pickup 4wd V6 manual
MODS: Just suspension so far and windshield resealed.
Hmm, depends on what looks and capabilities you want for it. For example, do you want to create a trail rig? a raised look w/ fat tires, or stock but with nice tires and rims? Also what is your engine size?

The truck is regular cab with 3.0 V6. I was holding out to find one in better condition as far as cosmetically, but this one came available, and the seller didn't want hardly anything for it. Mostly what I am wanting to do is just get the vehicle looking a little bit better, and a safe better alternative to drive in the winter other than my car.
I just totalled my 88- (3.0 v6, 4X4 reg cab) had it decked out with w/ 33" tires, roll bar w/ lights brush guard, and a new paint job. I will try to post a picture of it in the next day or two- should give you some good ideas. I still have all of the accesories for it (including 33" off-road tires w/ under 5,000 miles on them) if your interested.

More to come!!
I wouldn't mind hearing what you had on that 88 or seeing some pictures before it was totalled out. I don't really want the huge tires and stuff on there, I want some different wheels (truck still has god awful factory wheels still on this truck). I'd like to find a bed and get the interior redone and stop rust from going any further.
i have an 88 v6 standard can short bed... for looks deffinatly get some schmitty built bumpers for it and rolls bars look nice 2 (and help a lot i just found out not to long ago) anyways i would also recomend some nice deep dish rims if your are going to keep your stock tires on there not only will it make it less tippy but it will make it look nicer too (tires stick out to the sides further) i think they make spacers too if you dont want to spend a lot on deep dish rims.. they do about the same thing...
if you want it to sound nice get some headers and i would recomend flowmaster exsost i have it and it sounds nice!!!
I am still working on getting pics of my 88 up- my damn scanner isn't working correctly. I should have them up in a day or two- the tires really gave the truck a whole new look and the roll bar really looked good. Hopefully the pics of my 88 and 04 will be up in a day or so.
I want to see a yota with a nicely proportioned lift, mickey thompson 5-hole alluminum rims and thornbirds... thats my ideal truck... Cant wait for the pics by the way!
For whatever reason I am unable to post pics- if anyone is interested in seeing what my 88 p/u looked liked when it was in it's glory, email me at khunsber@hotmail.com I will send you the pics

I uploaded a picture of my 1988 Toyota P/U to another website (I couldn't get it to upload on this site for whatever reason). Check it out by clicking on the link below, it will take you right to the picture. Please let me know what you think of it. For those of you who are interested in parts from it, all that I have left of it are: alloy rims w/ 33"tires, roll bar, brush guard, and KC offroad lights. My insurance company paid me out for the body w/ the stock tires on it ($3600)- not to bad considering the 3.0 V6 had 190,000 miles on it and the cab, bed, and frame were badly damaged when I got broadsided in the drivers side by an SUV doing 45 MPH . Who knows, I might put some of those parts on my 2004 Tacoma (if I don't sell them first)
