1984 SR5 EFI 2wd pickup ?

I have the opportunity to buy the above mentioned pickup for $950Cdn. This pickup is at a local auction so I can't test drive it but the auctioneer is willing to let it go for this price (price includes auctioneer cut & 14% taxes). The engine looks clean (likely power washed), has new wires, rad, hoses...etc & 24x,xxxkm. Interior was plain jane, nothing special (can't remember if there was a tach or a deck). The long box has rust forming on both sides & the tailgate but no holes. The colour is two tone white & off white/gray but whatever.

This won't be a show truck by any means. I just need it for doing work around the house and hauling stuff.

What say you? What are items that I should checkout since I can't test drive it? Should I hold out for a better truck?

Please let me know cuz I have to make a decision by tomorrow.

TIA

How many kilos of stuff will u haul?
Remember, its like a 100 hp 4 .
There is really not enough power to go 90kph.
If it still runs, its great.

I'm hauling mostly garden waste, garbage and other odds 'n ends that won't weigh it down much. I'm not expecting to haul super heavy items.

Thanks for the reply, anyone else?

If it runs at all- that's a good price. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. Good luck!

I took a really good look at it today. The entire front end is pretty much rust free and the engine is running good, no chain rattle at all. Tranny shifted alright but probably could use new oil. As mentioned, the rear box is rusting but the frame is solid.

I'm hoping to finalize the deal tomorrow. Can't wait.

BTW, there was this black canister ziptied to the intake manifold with a line leading down. Not sure what that is or where it goes cuz all the other black canisters were in place.
