ignition parts interchange , compatibility
ok i found my problem , the distributor was totally cooked , there was a copper brillo pad inside... ( which im assuming is a pick up coil or was) my question is what year vehicles have distributors that will interchange and does the one with vacuum advance work too? a guy told me that if you replace a distributor you absolutley have to change the igniter/control module. is this true ? i have tested the output voltage on the igniter plug that goes to the coil and with the ignition on it reads just shy of 12 v (11.95) does that matter or can i just get a new distributor and its fixed... sorry for all the questions im new to the yotas and appreciate any knowledge anyone can pass on...
im just under the impression that the celica has the same engine so i can use a distributor from one of those but i cant seem to find one with the 22re engine listed on any parts store's site.
