Canada '00 tacomja inner tie-rods

Hey. Anybody have problems with inner-tie rod play on their '00 tacoma 4X4. My RHS has noticable play @ 142,000 km's. I am replacing the steering rack/inner tie-rod assembly at the moment. Is this a coomon problem in newer-generation tacomas?

hmm i see you have a 4x4... do you go mudding at all??? you have to watch very carefully when doing that kinda stuff as mud/dirt/anything will weasle its way into every little nook and cranny on every part of your truck... i would say if you did 4x4 at all... that is why you need to replace the tie-rods...

if you just drive on the road normally.. dont take turns too fast as that will cause more wear and tear on the tie rods...

yeah, ive changed both inner tie rod ends on my 99' with 80k.Outer ends seem to be doing okay,Im sure that you'll notice that the inners are covered with boots, though,so ...dont be afraid of the mud for this reason only

Well, I guess the inner tie-rod wear is a combination of 4X4ing & prehaps some hard corning. I'm use to driving my 5.0, so I guess I am a little to hard on my truck when it comes to the street.

As for 4X4ing, a little inner-tie rod wear is not going to deter me much from hitting the mud puddles, and flexing everything to the max. That's why I bought the thing.

I bought my truck second-hand from Toyota, and bought a toyota warranty with it. They are replacing the steering rack assembly for me this week. Finally, I am getting a little payback from the warranty.

Thanks guys. Just wondering if this was a common problem in newer generation Toyota's.
