Noob? trans? throttle flat spot? Help please

First thing is I have an 89 2WD base 22R 4sp CARB 205k miles...It runs great and i love it, but the clutch is going out and i would like to swap out the 4spd to a 5spd...Can someone tell me what years will work in my truck also is there any clutch info i should know about before buying the replacment clutch ( i was going to by a cheap autospecialty clutch kit or the like)

second question...I have a hesitation when the secondary throttle plate open. It doesn't matter at what speed or gear i am in. it's at the same throttle position(just as the secondary throttle plate opens) and if i hold it at that point is just sputters i have to either back off the throttle or push through the flat spot then it will star picking up RPM again... at first i thought it might be a bad EGR but i plug it off and it didn't change...I checked the accellerator pump but it seems to be working fine (pumps a ton of fuel when operated) I don't think i have a vacuum leak( checked using brake clean) but i suppose it is possible to have a vacuum line hooked up wrong? the engine revs out i can do over a 100MPH and it gets 20-25 MPG... any help would be great

I don't know about that. Did you clean out your throttle body and intake? Seafoam works really well for cleaning out the build-up. As far as you tranny ? I'll have to pass on that one as I havn't done much with the 22R.

You also got to figure there are a lot of people worried about stuffing themselves with fat birds.

Hmmm...I would clean out my throttle body but i cant find it. Where would the throttle body be on my truck? Is the seafoam next to the muffler bearings. Oh one more thing...I posted this a while ago before the bird was even purchased ...let the post whoring begin

Sorry, just realized you're carbed not EFI.... Gimmie a break, I havn't played with a carb system for years. You might actually be running too rich in the primary to secondary transition, causing your engine to sputter.
