autostart on my runner

The 4runner I just bought has a top of the line viper system in it from the 90s. However, I guess it is dealer policy to disconnect any after market systems like that when they recieve a used auto. So my question is whether or not there are any reasons NOT to have the system reconnected. I thought that I heard that sometimes autostarts are not good for cars. Any truth in that? I would like to have it because it is primarily my wifes car and she has to park it outside in the cold during the winter and if it had the autostart she could start it from inside and let it warm up a bit. The only thing disconnected on the system is the autostart, the auto unlock, alarm etc... still work, so we would just need to get the autostart taken care of. Thanks for any input.

My wife swears by her autostart. However, if you have a standard tranny, be sure there is a neutral start system installed. Otherwise it could start in drive and you have a runaway.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I suppose I should just let her park it in the garage! However, My BMW certainly is not getting parked out in the crappy chicago winter weather so oh well

I love my wife and she loves me so she understands my reasoning I think for parking the Beamer in the garage and says she agrees.
