22re runs rough

OK while coming home the engin went from normal to running on 2 cyl. the cyl that are working are 1 and 3. 2 and 4 are not fireing. now here is what has me confused I checked wires and plugs and they are fine(good spark) compression test shows 175-180 on all cyl. pulled manifolds and FI bar, swapped out injectors from the cyl's that wer firing to the dead ones and it still runs on 1 and 3. 2 and 4 are still a no go. Can the ECU die on just 2 cyl and not set a code? (no light)? any Ideas? I hate to spend 300 on an ECU if I don't need to

try a sensor im experiencing a similar rough running issue i dont know how yours is but mine is rough at idle and under braking. it runs great under acceleration and has gobs of power im thinking it may need a tps sensor and maby the o2 sensor too. i dont know much about the toyotas but it boggles me cuz if it was a bad sensor the engine light would come on from what ive seen with the nissan , mazda ,and chevy trux. im getting frustrated too man nobody seems to know the answer i saw a factory repair manual on ebay i think those are supposed to have all the specs we need to test every single wire in the damn thing. anyways good luck.

I had the same problems with a 1987 2 Ltr Camry I am selling this week, thank god. The problem after spending $400 on guess work was the Oxygen Sensor. A back yard mechanic took it out, wire brushes it and blew it out with an air hose. problem solved but I installed a new one anyway. That was it!!!! good luck to ya!
Love my 86 carburated Toyo Pickup!

Well Its all good again. after 3 nights with a fluke and test light no luck in finding bad wires, I went to salvage yard and found an ECU,Resistor pack. Swapped out the resistor pack (passenger side fender by fuse block.alum with fin's) and all is well..seams there were issues with this a few yrs ago with the wires chafing but mine were fine.
