what do you all recommend?

im looking to find the best mods that will get me a little more power and MPG without costing a fortune. i have a '95 2.7L Tacoma, 5 speed 4x4. i was looking through some of the older posts and found a few people referring to www.gadgetonline.com to show that CAIs arent good. well, i dont have a V6 or a supercharger and cutting a hole in the stock airbox is cheaper but to me it just seems like it lets more warm air in. SO....what are recommendations for my engine as far as CAIs?

and as far as other things....exhaust upgrades, ignition, etc.....what do you all recommend? this truck is my daily driver so i dont wanna be ripping it apart.

also...im looking for a small lift. i was planning on the Fabtech 3.5" kit but ive been reading about various spacers that offer about the same amount of lift i want. what are the pros and cons to using these spacers? and what do you guys recommend as far as the best mild, moderately priced lift? any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance

Ah yes my friend, I can give you info. People referring to gadget know what is up. He is always on customtacos.com and is always helping people. His URD products are what every Taco needs. as far as lift pros and cons, refer to the following link and it will answer any and all lift questions you might have.

http://www.customtacos.com/tech/inde...v2&id=137&c=10

As far as exhaust goes, most taco owners I've spoken with aren't buying bolt on cat back apps because they are just oo pricey. Most are getting either magnaflow or flowmaster mufflers and having pipe custom done at local exhaust shops and end up spending far less than any name brand bolt on. I'm personally looking at the flowmaster 40 muffler with custom bent pipe for dual rear exit exhaust on my taco. Also, doing the deckplate is a great cheap mod, if you have everything you need (sealant and something to cut the hole with and six screws) already it's only about $10 for the deckplate and it does provide a noticeable difference in performance, especially at WOT.

I edited my previous post, might be something you missed. As far as the 2.7L engines, he's working on apps for our trucks, yeah he doesnt have alot now, but he will. He's getting more and more requests from 4 cyl taco owners so he's getting into it more. There is a 2.7L s/c out there, with an optional 5th injector kit. There is a group buy going on at customtacos.com to get it at around $2600, but that's a huge chunk of change ya know.

Here's an image of my airbox removed from my truck with the deckplate mod in front and also the elbow removed from the side. Gimme a sec to find the tech artivle that expalins the deckplat ein very good detail. The deckplate thing you'll want to get an aftermarket airfilter like an Amsoil or K&N dropin to replace the stock one.

Here is the link for the elbow mod:
http://www.4runners.org/articles/airbox/index.html

and here is the deckplate:
http://www.toyotaoffroad.net/jnburtman/deckplate.html

Granted both of these articles are being done on a 6 cyl 4runner, but the steps are exactly the same for your 2.7L, I know, cuz I did them on my 2.7L.
