Help pls,,tilt steering busted???

New guy here. Thanks for your help.

I just bought a 2000 4Runner, had it about a month now. Great vehicle, can't wait for the snow to get here!

But this evening, jumped in to go for a drive and the tilt steering stopped working,
More specifically, the pull lever doesn't engage any click stops. The steering column just flops up and down.
Is this a major repair? has anyone the same problem? does the screw on the underside remove the bottom half of the column plastic?
I have been using a club on the steering wheel in the fully up position.....too heavy?

Any comments much appreciated.

the club shouldn't be a problem. The screws hold the trim to the column. Take off the trim and see if the mechanism just needs to be lubed. If it wasn't used alot buy the previouse owner it may just be sticky. let us know how ya make out
