Clevite? They make bearings, not cams...
What are the cam specs and who makes it. What is the cam part number from the manufacturer?

Im steping down to a cam similar to the RV. I want more torque than an hp band that goes way too far past redline. so otherwise yea thats a good cam with header and exhaust. I wouldnt do any cam as the only mod though.

What cam are you running now and what are the specs and what mods do you have?
What are the specs to the one you are stspping down to?
I had the LC Engineering EFI Pro in there and went to a 268 from engnbldr.com. I lost lots of mph in each gear but gained power down low where these trucks run at. My sig should have a list of mods, but either way a dude should do a header, exhaust and open air filter with a larger cam than stock, otherwise you will just have a good cam trying to work under too many restrictions.

Thanks for the info, I was looking at either Clevite's .444 lift cam (SPECS: 268/277 advertised duration, 224/234 @ .050 lobe lift, 430/444" gross valve lift, 110 centerline (105/115).) and the one Kuto posted about. Do you think the single pattern cam, (SPECS: 268° advertised duration, .425" gross valve lift.), from engnbldr.com performs better than the duel pattern cam? I have the air box mod with a stock filter, and plan on long tube headers.
Edit: I also need to find out what gear ratio I have because I have a good amount of torque even with a stock cam, that is to say I can smoke my tires any time I want and I have a very short RPM range between shifts.
Cam wise those are both good profiles, so it will depend on your driving style. Ie: do you do alot of highway driving, alot of low speed (town driving), like the hit the trails alot...
The high lift (.444) is going to be alittle more top end motivated (the duration has a lot to do with this too) but with the right gearing you will have crawlability on the trails. my stock 4.10's were/are good enough for the pro efi stick for the twice a year I actually get off road, but if I did it anymore often, I would step up to 4.88's.
Even with the 268 cam 1st gear in 2wd still isnt a lurching crawler but can get me up or down most fun stuff. I kinda figure it like this: the cam is for driving and the gears are for off roading. obviously its not as simple as that but it helps to make a decision.
What year is your rig and is it a stick or auto? That will help us tell what gears are in it.

I don't take mine off road....
I do have a 94 S-10 Blazer for that, it's the blue one behind the toyota.
I do drive on the highway allot. I have a 92 shortbed, 22RE with a 5 speed.
I do like the Clevite .444 lift cam I'm just wondering if it will be too much cam for the 22RE.
I know what cams work in a small block chevy but not a 2.5 liter engine. This is my first Toyota and I want to get the right cam the first time.
Here's a pic:
I'll tell ya right now, you will see some speed out of that little truck. I'm trying to push a heavy 4wd 4runner with a 4cyl, its ridiculous, but a light little 2wd shortbed, yeah you're gonna have some fun.
Looks to me like the Clevite is goning to be your better option (I do have my efi pro for sale if you want it). You will defenetly want a pacesetter or doug thorley header and a 2.25 exhaust with a good cat and muffler, and a supra afm if you can find one. in the right rig these motors are great, and youve got the right rig for it.
oh yeah and if you havent yet, get rid of your mechanical fan and get an electric one in there.

Yeah, I want to put an electric fan in it. I have one from a Oldsmobile Calis I believe will work.
How old is your cam (how many miles on it)? Can you send me cam specs in a PM with how much you want for it?
