testing a coil? or ignitor

hello ive been tryin to fix my truck for past 2 months and i finnally got to change the timing belt last night. it was in really bad shaped but it didnt fix the problem..when i start the truck try too it puts putts putts putts cant give it gas or it dies..i put new distrubtor, cap, rotor ,wires,plugs and chagned the timing belt..its getting plenty of fuel.. i checked the resistance on the coil the primary was fine the secondary came up 0....i dont understand how it can get a spark at all if thats true..would that mean my coils bad? and also how wou ld it get a spark from the plugs if so.. and how can i test a ignitor..any help or suggestoins be great ty

what year, what engine?

generally can't test an ignitor, you have to try a known good one and see if it works.
As far as the coil goes, I don't remember what the values are for resistance. I'd have to look it up.

Sounds like timing is off. Are you sure the belt/chain was put on correctly?

I would also try rotating the distriburor, or making sure it is in time.

yes it sounds like the ignition timing is one or so teeth off on the distributor...

hey guys thanks my distributor was off a tooth.. that cap is kinda wierd the way there numbered on the v6 and where the firing is u gota get under the cap and look real close or its easy to get off a tooth.. that was my problem after changing the belt...runs perfect now..before i changed the belt i moved that distributor to every tooth and it idnt help so i thought i had it right on it after i changed the belt then messed with it somemore and its all good...
