coil

well i changed the timing belt and it didnt start up right it acted the same before..so i figured the fuel filter was plugged up and i had to cut it off by then it was late and had too wait till tommorow to get hoses and stuff to hook back before i could tinker with it some more.. but i realized the filter was ok cause i blew through it and no restrictions..so my buddy new a guy that did wholesale parts to all the major auto stores and he went ahead and picked me up a ignitor and a coil...and we put the coil in and it didnt start and ignitor didnt start..so tinkered with the distributor and it was a hair off...i then got it right on it and vroooooom it sounded so good.. i ended up just paying for the coil...it was only 60 bucks couldnt go wrong ...i figure couldnt hurt to have it anyway and i let the ignitor go back at 125...im thinking the whole time the belt was causin all this i tried so many times of movin the distributor ar ound on diff toofs and nothing made a difference but when it was off a tooth and the belt was bad it would start but hardly and run badly non worthy of driving but after changin the belt and making sure the distributor was completely lined up and everything times perfect it started ....the thing that was messing me up some was the way the distributor caps on these are and where the number 1 is actually on the cap u gotta get under neath there and look real close or b4 u know it its a tooth off when it looks like its on it..im just happy camper to have it goin its got \235k miles on it and its running like a champ ..doesnt miss out at all and engine is really quiet and shifts smoothly and brakes nicely...great truck with so many miles...hopefully you all dont have to hear from me soon on some new advice on something goin wrong but i think im all good for while...and by the way the timing belt on that thing was horrible it had more cracks in it then you could imagine without snapping but the teeth on it were all good just all that wear n tear n the belt made a difference in the timing and definetly prob the number one thing to have changed on thse truck s b4 they go bad...only took like 3 hours or so to change it didnt even have to take the radiator out i was happy about that it was really a easy job and everything was made to re install it easily...have good one!
