Tire carrier problem

I've got a '92 SR5-V6 pickup. The tire carrier is rusted frozen. I've tried various penetrating oils, heat, hammers, and crowbars(!) to try and loosen it, but I think it's history. My spare is now riding in the bed.

Anyone know a cheap replacement fix for this?

Thanks,

Grasshopper

Mine was the same, rusted solid and filled with rust scale and dirt. I had to remove it and work on it on the bench. A little heat in combination with hammer tapping got the worst of the scale out, then used penetrating oil. Once it was completely freed up, I loaded it up with never-sieze. That was two years ago, still working fine. The moral of this story: pull it out and work on it. As long as the cable is not rusted out, you can probably salvage it.

Thanks for the info, guys. I've got to replace a section of exhaust soon (O2 mount is cracked off.) I'll pull the tire carrier off at the same time. Great time of year for it!
