04' models all gone?

Where do all the vehicles go at the end of the year? I have always wondered this. I know the Toyota dealers around here had several hundres Tacomas and others a couple of months ago, now when I would like to upsize from a standard cab to an extended in an 04, there are none! I know it is the end of the year, but there has got to be a truck with some of the things I want on it somewhere?

I see a number of them (unsold 2004 model inventory) on dealer lots, at least in the metro Chicago area. Pretty good discounts too !

I'm not sure about up north, but I can give you my experiences. I spent about 2 months looking for a used Tacoma between 2000 and 2003 before I found one. I went to all the dealerships in 3 Major Cities (Corpus, San Antonio, Austin) as well as a number of other dealerships and lots and newspapers.

I found a handfull of them of course, but they were always automatic transmission (which I'd never buy), or they had some body damage or rust or some other unacceptable problem. I don't consider these to be eccentric requirements, but they were very difficult to meet.

Once a salesman called me at work, told me they just got in a tacoma that met my requirements. I told him I'd swing by after work. When I got there, they had sold it already. That was only a 4 hour gap from when the dropoff happened until the guy drove it home.

If you don't want an 05 then just be patent and keep looking. They go fast, especially certain types like the standards, or the regular cabs. Keep friendly with the salesman and call him often. Good luck!
