timeing chain

How do release the tension so you can put the spocket and chain back on? I had to replace the head on it.

If you look down the left side of the chain, there is a tensioner that is spring loaded. Maybe a long screwdriver? It is a bit** to do even with the timing cover off....

More knowledgable people will answer your question I'm sure.

you will have to push it back with something like D'mon said, make sure you turn it over after and the timing marks are ok.

what i do is i have a piece of wood on a wire and i wedge it between the tensioner and the guide(place it between the chain)and just drop the chain down

Will I have to keep pressure on it while I try to bolt the spocket on? Also , it's say that the notch on the cam needs to be in the 12o'clock postion? How can I turn the cam over to line it up while the chain is off of it?
