Differences between the 95 Pickup and Tacoma

I tried searching but found nothing.

What are the major differences, others than options of course. Both can be auto and 4x4 with x cab, but in terms of reliability and total cost of ownership (TCO).

I'm debating whether to pick up a 95 Tacoma or Pickup. The pickup seems to be less pricey wiht comparable options.

Any insight as to why?

i think they are the same. I think Its just that toyota started calling it tacoma in 95 instead of pickup from the previous years truck.

I thought that too, but then I noticed that Toyota put out a Tacoma AND a Pickup during the same year.

hmmmmm.. good point. my best guess is that they just did that to fade out the pickup and start calling it the tacoma. And with the new name, came better options and upgrades. JMO

Your both right,The tacoma entered into production late in 95,(actuall debuting as a 95 1/2)and has since been the "small" truck from toyota up untill this year, when the tacoma"grew".the upgrade from truck to tacoma included such things as airbags, new engine displacements, and a plethora of interior-exterior dimention changes.I also beleve that at the time, tacomas were produced here in the u.s.

the major differences between the two is the body and engine. it was the debut of the all new Tacoma. the '95.5+ tacomas body is completely different than the '95 and earlier pick-ups. they added body lines, changed the tailgate, fenders a little different, as well as different engines. it was the biggest change in the toyota line-up up until the new Tacomas for '05. all the Tacomas up until this year are all pretty much the same with the exception of the taillights and front end changing every couple years
