So from the looks of your Ford you are going to be repainting soon. I got no problem with Fords (rear wheel drive ones at least-the wife's Taurus is crap!!!). Looks like a nice job you're doing, but your Dad's sounds mighty fine. I would love to taqke a gander at pics of your Dad's ride, or even more pics of yours for that matter. I always appreciate seeing a vehicle that is cared for instead of run into the gorund.
Last Ford I really loved was my '49 1 Ton. She had a flathead V8, 3 speed standard and a bull low. She could pull a house of its foundation, and a full box of gravel or wet topsoil she would not even feel. It was just very difficult finding bias ply tires for the 17 1/2" rims... Believe it or not, she was original paint with the exception of the passenger front fender. A little wax, and she glowed...at least the cab did. The box had the typical rustout along the bed in the box.
I also had a '78 pickup with a 300-6 (bought it from my Dad, he had bought it new). Couldn't kill that engine, but it ate clutches. The first gear and second were virtually the same, and you had to smoke the clutch a bit just to get going. A Luk clutch setup fixed up the clutch situation right quick though. I finally sold it after putting about 300,000 miles on it with no mechanical problems at all. It was too bad the paint fell off of it in chunks. Of course, I had a '79 Chev that did the exact same thing.
Didn't mean to burn your butt, I just get a bit defensive when I hear praises of non-Toyotas on a Toyota newsgroup. Every manufacturer has its flaws, I just prefer the flaws in my 4Runner. Guess I'm guilty of automotive bigotry.....
