new engine 22r

I just got through replacing the head and it still won't start. I did another compression check and #1 has none. 2 and 3 have 120psi and 4 had like 60psi. Would it be cheaper to buy a short block or to try and repair the old motor? Also is there a cheap place on-line to buy the block? What else could cause no compression. See my other post about the truck http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t59098.html
If anyone is in the DFW area and want to lend a hand. Please sent me a pm. I would pay alittle for your help

You have NO pressure in cyl #1? Check valve adjustment first, just to eliminate that. If you can pressurize the cylinder, you can figure out where the leak is. If it's coming out the exhaust, you know the exhaust valve if phuckered. Same goes for the intake valve.
BTW, where in Texas are you?

I live in Waxahachie, that about 35mile south of dallas. Someone also suggested that I might have the timing out of wack. So I guess I'll pull the timing chain cover and make sure.

You might have timing wrong, but that's not gonna explain not having compression in only one cylinder. #1 is to get the compression in spec., then timing. After that, spark and fuel.
