Question Truck doesn't roll very well....

I have a 2000 Tacoma 4WD with 35K miles on it. It doesn't seem to roll down the road very well. The front wheels act as if the brakes are on. I have an '82 2WD that goes better in the snow than this truck does in 2 wheel because there seems to be such resistance coming from the front end. Is it this tight for a reason or is there something one can do to loosen it up. It's like something has been tightened too tight. Never had any work done to the front end....yet. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Marty

It sounds like it needs to be aligned.

You may have too much positive caster. That would be my guess short of another mechanical steering problem.

I would get the front end off the ground first and see if you still have any binding.

Noticing any kind of weird tire wear? Outer edges worn down? Inner? Cupping?

Mine feels that way when I put it in 4wheel drive,Make sure you dont have it in 4whell drive,As far as them telling you a front end alignment,Not true if you had to much caster or camber your truck would do one of the following things,Pull to one side, squeal around conners. Not put a drag on it like you say,,,

You don't have manual hubs, therefore your axle shafts are always turning, and likely the reason for the difference. Not to mention it's a totally different truck altogether.
