PreRunner vs SR5 Question

THis is prolly a very stupid question, but i need a real honest answer cause im lookin for a toyota truck. Are there any differences between the Tacoma PreRunner and the SR5. Cause i wanna get the perfect truck if im gonna keep it for awhile so i wanna make sure i understand the meanings of both of terms. Thanks in advance

Mike

Are you looking to go off-roading or mainly highway driving? The SR5 is a trim level. You can have a 2wd mini with the SR5 as well as a 4x4 or PreRunner with the SR5 trim level. A PreRunner has the suspension and look of a 4x4, but is 2wd.

Im glad im not the only one that didnt know the difference. Cause I think I have sr5 and prerunner badges on the tailgate, prerunner for sure is on there. It has the TRD sport pkg too, and everyone asks me if its 4wd since it sits pretty tall. I like the 4wd look without actually having 4wd its kinda cool. Love mine so far!

sr5 alone is your standard truck; standard suspension and tires, has no lift.
Prerunner will include sr5, but has a 4x4 look. Raised, bigger tires.

yo i def. need the 4x4 truck, im not worried about the off road package, cause i'll never really use the rear locker it comes with, if i find one that has it, awsome but im not worried about lookin for one....prerunners suck then, whats the point of sitten high with no 4 wheel drive

Hahaha 95 camryguy is cracking me up...yah,prerunners are basically wanna be "lookers"in the 4wd category,BUT..if you get the TRD with the locker, you would really be surprised how far that alone will get you.I live near the Oregon dunes offroad recreation area, and car run quite a ways on just 2wd with my locker. If I have to stop on a hill,or turn too sharp,yah..I use 4wd..but the locker is a great thing, especially if you bypass the computer and can run it at all times,or have the prerunner which(I believe) CAN be ran at all times,as a standard.
