V6 Tacoma valve adjust - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

Hi everyone,
Noobie here with our burning question. Just had the Misses 2k Tacoma prerunner in for a timing belt etc and was injuiring about the valve adjustment intervals etc. Im under the impression its 70K for the 3.4 V6 in them, were at 90K now. Ive been told 3 different stories so far. Unfortunatly the dealsrship service writer we had the work done at still insists there electronically controlled

and dont need any attention, Not. The ones that know there adjustable say they never go out of adjustment. I realize its a PITA to do them but whats the real scoop on them? I dont want to wait till its missing to do them and end up with a burned valve.

I would really be concerned with the valve adjustment on the engine. They are not that much to go bad on the adjustments of them as long as they are left intact. They are adjusted with shims and as you stated a PITA. only should be done by a qualified Toyota tech. It is quite normal for you to have a little valve noise!!
