Well a Mud Terrain tire doesn't typically do good in the rain.

Two good mud tires I have seen last pretty long are the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R and The BFGoodrich Mud Terrain T/A

The BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO might be a good medium. Those tires last a long time. I've seen those tires go over 70k miles many times.

BTW I used to be a service advisor for goodyear for a few years.

Try looking into Bridgestone Revos as well.

As far as a compromise of off road grip, onroad performance, wear, versatility and durability, you can't beat BFG Mud-Terrains. Goodyear MTR's are less of a mud tire and more of a roack and slick condition traction tire. The BFG will beat it in the mud, but the MTR will beat the BFG on rocks. The MTR is pretty dang expensive though.

Also, ProComp makes a very good MT. I hear good things about the Bridgestone Dueler MT's too.

If I had to pick a strictly mud tire, I would take the BFG. But the MTR is definitely a badass tire and can more than hold its own in all conditions. It beats the BFG in all categories but mud and longevity.
