Total rebuild or not?

1991 Toyota 2wd Pick-up 235K:

Just started to smoke not a wisp but a cloud of white smoke after the truck has been sitting. The debate is a total rebuild or just the top end?

Yes, I know the truck has a lot of miles, but I need to squeeze a few more miles out. Ideas, Opinions, possible causes??

First I would perform a leak down test and a fluid analysis test on the engine to pin point problem but more than likely your headgasket is blown and your cylinder head may need re-surfacing.Your engine can give you 330 000 miles easily.

Sydney,
Right on the mark! I had flushed the radiator, refilled with antifreeze, and I parked the truck in the drive. Next day: I changed the oil (due at regular interval). Noticed excessive water dripping out of the tailpipe when idling. I too suspect a blown head gasket on the exhaust side, excessive smoke from fluid burn-off without the burnt oil smell. Mate, It is still warm in the south, so I will break her down this Saturday. I will keep you updated.
