TRD supercharger for 3.4

I originally wanted to purchase an 05 and wait for its supercharger, but seeing as it would be too costly, and the truck that I want is very limited and rare, I have considered purchasing an 04 xcab trd 4x4 5spd and supercharging it. I just wanted to know from those who have already done this how much does it cost in general for the s/c and other addons not mandatory, but needed and recommended to aviod any future problems. I also wanted to know a base hp increase and overall rwhp. I kind of wanted to compare a s/c'd 3.4 with an s/c'd 4.0 just to see what I was missing, and if the 3.4 could compete with the 4.0. Thanks dudes.

An '05 Access cab v6 4x4 6 speed manual is not that rare. My friend just bought one. The new 4.0 v6 has about 50 more hp and a whole lot more torque than the 3.4. You'd have to supercharge the 3.4 to get as much, maybe a little mopre than the 4.0.

But if you do plan on gettting the 3.4 and a supercharger don't go with the 7th injector kit, instead go with th e URD kit.

GO to www.customtacos.com Gadget posts on there all the time, and it has the most info on the supercharged 3.4 and the urd kit.

The 04 and under tacomas are an awesome truck, some prefer them over the 05's. They are also better suited for off roading, they have better ground clearance.

Thanks for the input,...only thing that makes me sad is to hear that 4.0 almost matches a s/c'd 3.4 in hp and tq, hehe.

well i have a 1998 4x4 supercharged with the urd kit. the urd kit by the way is way better than the 7th injector kit, the 7th kit is just a toyota cover up for running too lean. my truck dynoed with 31"tires and no gear modifications, with a 5spd. manual with 240rwhp and 262rwt the new 4.0 comes with 245hp at the motor and 268torque at the motor. so the supercharged 3.4 being in a smaller, lighter truck should beat a 4.0 stock. i havent raced any new tacomas yet but there have been a fair share of morons with hemi's and the like thinking they can just tool on me, but have nooooo idea lol. obviously supercharging the 4.0 would be the way to go. reports of supercharged 3.4's with the 7th injector kits had in the 220's for rear wheel hp. so if youre comparing a s/c 3.4 with a stock 4.0 then go s/c 3.4 for sure. hopefully thats not too confusing and you get something out of it
