Toyota Hilux Question ??

Hi. I don't know much about Toyotas and I was wondering if a Toyota Hilux in Austraila is the Tacoma here in the US? Or if not, what is a Hilux in the US? My question is on a 1993 if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance for the help!

yeah, well actually it was named the T100, and later named the Tacoma, but it's the same as the Hilux..

the Hilux surf is our 4Runner, and the Kluger is our Highlander (incase you were wondering)

I had asked this question on other boards and basically got the follwing info:

Hilux = Early NA Pickup (2wd and 4wd) = Tacoma

T100 = Tundra

The Hilux 4x4 Xtracab is the Hilux that has the same frame number (N170) as that of the Tacoma Xtracab. But there may be other differences because the Hilux is rated as a 1-ton pickup whereas the Tacoma is rated as a 1/2-tonner only.

You can check the frame number by looking at the manufacturer's plate attached to the firewall on the left side of the engine bay.
Hope this helps.
