Question please help with catalytic converter issue.

Hi,I am now replacing my muffler and outlet pipe with a "walker quiet flow 3" muffler. My original toyota factory Cat. Converter is still on and working.Should i replace it now? the truck has 150,000 miles. Also,i have seen "free flow" catalytic converters.JC Whiney has aclamp/weld on one for 65.00.Are these worth it? Whitney also has direct fit OEM type Cat. Converters for 100.00.Should i go with stock type. I have also heard about "Empty " cat converters some guys use. Are these good? What is an Empty cat. converter and how do iget/make one? i live in exas,a smog free state, but the Cat. converter is required to be in place.THanX

An empty cat = remove cat, beat the heck out of it with a long screwdriver and hammer to remove all the guts, reinstalled gutted cat for inspection purposes.
That is the free-est flowing cat you will ever find. I would say that I did it to mine, but it is illegal.
