1980 toyota truck questions

I am looking at maybe buying a 1980 model 2wd truck with the 20R motor. It is the long bed, with a five speed. How reliable are these trucks motor wise? As well as the rest of the truck? And what i really want to know is, will it pull a small 5x8 trailer with a lawn mower on it... Thanks guys love the site???

Welcome. The 20-R is a tough realiable(sp?) motor like the 22-R series. When My buddy and i use to cut yards and we hooked my '88 Pickup to his trailer and we never had a problem.

In '80 the 5 speed was the top of the Line package called SR5. The SR5 Truck was equipped with Bucket seats,Decals along the body,a 5 speed Trans, Tachometer along with oil pressure and Voltage gages. If all of this is on the Truck you stumbled upon a rare Truck.

well i bought it. 700$ It has decals, bench seat, no tach, and i believe just an oil light. It has factory air conditioning that is unhooked. Runs circles around my old 84 chevy s-10 wit ha six cylinder. i couldnt belive it was a four, it has gobs of torque and moves alot faster than my old s-10. Looks like it has had very good maintenance done to it over its life. I hope it lives up to its name and runs as good as i hear they are suppose to.

LAter guys!!
