USA K&N Intake Filter Kit

I ordered one last night, should be here in the next day or so. Are they a pain in the ass to put on?

Is this just a drop in filter or an air intake kit?

Intake kit--the FIPK, not just the drop-in filter.

It's pretty easy, but be careful not to over oil the filter as it will foul up the MAF and that could be very costly.

Most kits come pre-oiled so you don't need to worry about it the first time... but later on down the road you're going to have to worry about it. Never OVER oil the filter.

Actually, you may have to worry about a new K&N being over oiled. I learned my lesson on my wifes Tahoe when it destroyed the MAS in about 15k miles. I installed one on my Ranger and before I did I took the new filter, cleaned all the factory oil off it and re-oiled it lightly. Made a difference along with cleaning the MAS at every oil change just to be sure.

So what's the part# for the FIPK intake kit? I dont see them listing one for the 05 Tacoma yet online.

I think that may be the problem w/ mine. My CEL is coming on and i have a feeling that i used a little much oil on the filter. How can this be fixed, a new MAF sensor?

You can, but you can clean it yourself. If you know where it is you can un bolt it, buy some electrical contact cleaner (make sure it is safe for plastics as well) from Radio Shack or any home supply store and spray the MAF librally. DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT use a Q-Tip or anything else to clean off the wire sensors in the MAF. Just spray it down and let it dry and slap it back on. To reset your CEL, unplug the LITTLE 15amp EFI fuse (not the larger square one) in the fuse box for a few minutes and you should be good as gold.
