JDM replacement for 22r engine?

My mom has a 1985 Toyota pickup. Had around 120k miles and her timing chain broke and the engine is trashed (she changed the oil like once a year)

She is looking for a cheap replacement, the truck had a 22r engine in it.

For my supra I got a JDM replacement when my engine went, I checked and there is no 22r JDM engine. I noticed that Celica’s up to 1985 had the same 22r engine in them as well? So I’m guessing one of these would work as well if I found a cheap US one?

I’m wondering if there is any easy replacement of a JDM engine that will take little to no mods to put in. For example how hard would a 21R engine be to put in? I read it’s the Japanese version (although less power it doesn’t really matter to her as much as the cost).

Any recommendations would be great!

PS. She wants to get it fixed because she already put well over $1,000 into the transmission and breaks so she doesn’t want to just let it go.
