Knock sensor

Help... I have a knock sensor code showing in my 91 4runner V6. Does the code tell me that a knock/miss had been detected or is it telling me that I have a faulty knock sensor? When I clear the codes and turn the engine back on, the code(continuous flash) shows no fault in system. It's when I drive a short distance that my check engine light turns on and shows a 5-2(knock sensor) code. Which stands to reason that the sensor is detecting a miss fire. Am I correct about that? Thanks in advance.

I have a 91 toyota camry v6 with the same problem what i have found out is a knock sensor wont turn on your check engine light if it senses a knock it will just retard your timing and your car will lose performance. but if the check engine light is on like mine then most likely the knock sensor either fell out of place or is loose or even may need replacing but from what i have heard they are a pain to replace.
