88 5 speed manual tran 4x4. When I put it into 4WD the truck jerks and pulls to to the right on and off making it very difficult to control, almost as if the front drive wheel is swithching from left to right. Drives perfectly normal in 2WD. Could manual hubs be the problem or possible front diff. Greatful for any help.

Are there u joints in the front axle on those? I don't remeber the set up, if there are, check for slop in them, or any kind of movement. I do know they have a steering knuckle, if that hasn't been taken care of and well greased it could be a problem. There is a plug you have to remove on the back side of the hub which is where you then grease. I only know because I had one once upon a time.
