Question 86' 22r-ec just won't run right,need ideas...

Hello, I seem to have a truck with a "ghost" flying around in my engine. I had overheated it going back to ft. hood before a bosnia deployment. I had it rebuilt, bored .030 over, bought a factory complete head, factory cam, etc. and now it runs like a terd! It used to do 100mph and get good mileage at a decent speed, now I will be lucky to do 60. It sat for about a year, I went through the fuel system and fixed that end. The other day when I cranked it over, it backfired and then started and now it has a clicking sound coming out of the head. Water occasionally sputters out of the tailpipe, it smells like its running rich, and has NO power. Numbers 1,2,4 have compression averaging 165, number 3 has 120. Believe it or not I have around 10k in the thing after 6 years of problems and now im thinking: bad head gasket on exhaust side, compression not the greatest on that cylinder but not 10 at least, getting too much fuel, and my wife wants me to get rid of it to buy more shoes or something Am I just screwed or is there any hope? At this point any comment is a good comment!

p.s. never get your engine rebuilt by the cheapest garage even if he claims he has a warranty! Now I know why he only has one eye

Double check cam timing, ignition timing, and valve adjustment. Also, check the catalytic converter to make sure it's not clogged. That's where I would look first, assuming your plugs, cap and wires are all ok.

figured it out-->bent valve! had some seepage into the #3cylinder i guess from the head gasket. The number 3 exhaust was WAY out of tolerance! I should have figured it out when the engine did not want to turn over. Now it's going to cost me a valve job and a new head gasket. I drilled out the cat. conv., so that end should be fine. Thanks for the reply though!
