my 92 runs at a real high idle at a cold start. Sometimes over 2000 RPM on cold days. On warmer days, 45 degrees plus it tops maybe 1500. I have the idle set to 1000 RPM and it will eventually go down to that after about 5 + mins. It just bothers me that it does this and it is loud when running at 2000. What could be the cause of this? Is this cureable, or is it just how it is supposed to be. Thanks

I do not have a truck, but my '96 Camry V6 will idle close to 2k RPM's when it is cold out. You shoul not have anything to worry about.

Its normal most all vehicles do this in cold weather

Most if not all of the Toyotas have thier engine computers set(from factory) to idle at a higher rpm until the engine warms up. It is part of thier design. If it stops idling high when the engine warms up you have nothing to worry about.
