can't pump gas

I just bought my son a 2002 toyoya tacoma 4x4, 4cylinder, extra cab, sr5. He is in the Marines at Camp Pendleton, ca. He says everytime he tries to put gas in it, it pushes the gas back out at him. I called Toyoya and they said it was the pump station, but my son said he tried to get gas outside of the base and the same thing happened. Any help would be great. Thank you in advance. Louis

My 2002 Toyota Tacoma has been doing the same thing for almost a month now. Its a v6 kingcab. I have been to about 20 different gas stations and it takes almost half an hour to fill the tank. It just clicks every few cents like the tank is full. Toyota says they have never seen anything like it which is a bunch of bull because I'm finding more and more posts with problems just like ours. They want to take the tank off and check it but its $300.00 just for that. Most of the posts I have found say its the vapor recovery valve?? If I find out any thing else I will post again. Good Luck

does anyone know where the vapor recovery valve is located. I also tried 3 different toyota dealers and they all acted like they never heard of this problem. Thanks to all I really need to get this thing fixed for my son, he is going to Iraq in March, I want him to enjoy his truck for alittle while before he goes.
