The button are for the ECT (Electronic Controlled Transmission). The other button should say POWER. It is used to change the shift points on the transmission. It will allow it to rev higher before shifting for towing or racing the engine. There are lights on some instrument guage clusters that say ECT with NORMAL and POWER.
140K on a '86? Very possible but not highly believeable!

some more facts about your rig: the enginge is a 22re 2.4liter 4cyl. it puts down about 90hp to the wheels stock. it reacts well to exhaust mods so if your looking for more power thats a good place to start. in 86 toyota went from a solid axle up front to a independent front suspension which makes for a cushier ride and a big pain in the ass if you want to lift. if you drive it normally, ie: dont run the crap out of it, and keep up on the oil changes, you should be good for upwards of 250k miles with only little things like a starter here or alternator there. Basicly the best thing you can do is enjoy it!

The ECT button moves the auto tranny shift points to a higher RPM. This is great for towing or just getting on the highway. You can toggle this on the fly.
