Coolant coming from EGR valve

Hey guys-
I've been messing with my EGR valve since the code popped up not too long ago. I cleaned the original and more recently replaced it with a low mileage junk yard score. In both cases, coolant spewed out of one of the hoses that ties into the EGR when I disconnected it.. I traced the hose backwards, and it T's into a line connecting to the water neck. Regardless, is this normal for a bit of coolant to pee out when the hose is disconnected? Somehow, this is alarming to me.
Thanks-

Cool

All the lines always have fluid in them. (minus the radiator return and purge tank)
If it doesn't spray out when you open it, you're in trouble.

It's the 2.7 4 banger. 1995 4 wheel drive Tacoma. That's what i thought too is that the EGR dealt with emissions and has nothing to do with coolant.
