TRD vs. normal 4x4

Stopped by a car dealership this weekend, to see where the TRD stickers go on a 2005 bed. When I pulled my truck next to a TRD double cab short bed, it sat about 2 inches taller than my 4cyl ext. cab 4x4. Is this all done with the tires or do the TRDs have different springs in the rear to achieve a higher ride height?

I believe all 4x4 and Prerunner models sit higher regardless if you have TRD packaging or not.

Well, what size tires do you have? If they're smaller than the ones on the double cab, there's your difference. Was the ground level? The double cab may have had stiffer front springs. The rear springs are probably the same. It's the Bilstein shocks that make up the TRD package.

Tires would have to be 4" taller to give a 2" height increase

and shocks don't adjust height too much, maybe if they are REAL stiff they will keep it up a little, but not usually

it is probably a bunch of things

may be different tires - 1/2" or so (different manufatures tires can be the same size, yet one will be taller than the other based on sidewall stiffness and just overall differences in manufaturing - not all 30" tires measure 30" new)
you truck has settled - 1/2"
the truck had a tow package, maybe an - 1" tops
did you have a full tank of gas - 1/4" (I don;t think they keep them filled on the lot all the time)
the parking lot isn't perfectly level - 1/4" maybe
