'89 Pick-Up Power Windows Wiring Diagram (wire colors)

A friend of mine has an '89 4x4 SR5 Pick-Up and his passenger side window does not work. He asked me to take a look at it, so first I went to my manual to look at the wiring. After I understood the system, I popped off the panel for the switches, and it turns out that none of the wire colors match up with what I have in my book. The haynes manual I have just gives a typical late model diagram for the power windows:

The only wire colors that matched up (at least the ones I could test) were the power wires going to the switches (3 & 12). There is power to each switch, so that is not the problem.

So the problem either lies with a bad motor, or a bad "lock switch". If the "lock switch" is bad, it will not allow it to be grounded....therefore not work.

I guess my main question is this: Can someone pull out their manual (more vehicle specific...maybe Chilton's) and let me know the wire colors for the power window system. The main wires that I need to know are numbers 10-14 on the diagram above.

If I get these wire colors, I bypass the switch and wire it up to see for sure if the motor is bad or not.

If anyone can help me out, that would be great....

10,11,13,14 should all be grounded if the lock switch is closed (unlocked). You do not need wire colors for that. By toggling the switch, you should be able to figure out what is what by seeing what connections open. The problem could also be on the drivers side switch. Assuming the window is up, the ground path for down goes through the drivers side down switch.

That sounds right...I should have written down the wire colors while I had it apart...I remember they weren't all blue wires (as my diagram shows)...I think yours is right. Thanks for the help...

If I want to test the "lock switch", I would need to know which wire #10 or #11 is in order to complete the circuit (I am talking with the switch unplugged...but like your saying, with the passenger side switch plugged in, 10,11,13,14 should all be grounded)

Thanks for bringing that up...I didn't even think of that as a way to test the "lock switch".

Thanks again for the info....now I can do some testing.
