need more power

hey ive got a tired/in peices 22re in my 94 pu 4x4 and im currently rebuildin it and ive got 31" tires on my truck but im planing to do a body lift so i can fit 33" tires my truck feels incredebly slow with the 31s got any sugestions for a power adder or a good engine to swap for......kinda wanna keep it naturally aspirated.

also anyone know if i can get a hardware kit constisting of bolts for my engine ie..intake manifold bolts/exhaust manifold studs/timing chain cover hardware....thanks

You need to change your gears in the rear. It should run about $300-$500 installed.

if i were to change the rear end gears wouldn't that also mean i need to change the front diff gears too

^yes you would. Best bang for the buck. Even both ends should only run you 500 or so, if I remember right. The usual hot rod stuff applies to the engine. Porting, exhaust, and cam. If you have the head and block decked, make sure a total of .020 is removed and buy one of engnbldr's adjustable crank gears for the cam to bring the timing back to spec. Retarded cam timing can kill power. In fact, buy all your parts from engnbldr, great prices and real good guy. Hangs out on 4x4wire. See www.engnbldr.com for more goodies, rebuild kits, hotter cams, etc.

you might check out lc.engineering.com they have some verry good products. in there catalog they have a gearing guid for large tires for 33" they recomend 4.88 or 5.29. they also offer a 30 and a 32lb high torque flywheel.

You can get a new air intake (lees restrictive), new exhaust system, headers, and the list goes on of little things you can do here and there to gain more power. But first i would change you gearing. Marlincralwer.com aor4x4.com allprooffroad.com all have new gear sets...
