Head bolt Problem, HELP??

Well, I finally broke down and bought a new Header, Steel Timing Kit, and new Engine builder Cam for my '89 Extended Cab Pickup's 22RE engine. I waited all week to install this and on Saturday morning was up bright and early. Header went on great, no problems here. Started tearing engine apart, everything went great until I got to the head/rocker assembly bolt second from rear on drivers side. It would not budge. A 12 point socket was starting to round off the bolt head so I switched to a Craftsman hex head instead. My breaker bar was not moving this thing. I found a cheater pipe and noticed the bolt head flexing a little but not coming loose. I then fired up the compressor and broke out the 1/2" impact. Nothing moved, just a lot of noise. By now I figure I will probably break off the bolt and have decided I can live with that and rebuild the whole engine after a trip to the EDM shop. I find a longer cheater pipe and go to town. BAM!! A few busted knuckles and my socket is broken in 4 pieces, but the damned bolt is still there. I give up! I started putting it back together and then quit. Anybody have any miracle cures for this problem? I am very disappointed and really do not want to put it back together without installing this cam which was my main purpose of this whole project. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Dan

that bolt and the second to front on same side always stick because they are so close to the exhaust ports. you could try heating up the edge of the block where the end of that bolt would be with a torch. Any lubricant is going to have to go a long way down to the threads. I would heat it up. If it absolutely won't come loose (impact socket, loooong cheater bar) you will just have to break it somehow and lift the head off so you can heat up the bolt itself down by the threads.

You might be able to drill the center of the bolt out so it will be easier to break.

I had that problem, same bolt, but mine was corroded to the head 'cause of a slow leaking head gasket,I would PB blast it and wait, maybe heat it with a butane micro torch-a propane torch can make a mess of aluminum QUICK.Mine broke half way through the head and then came out of the block without too much trouble using an easy out.good luck
