I am looking for new brake pads for my Taco. Can anyone tell me which one is better, ceramic, or semi-metallic?

Ceramic is the latest type of material and is supposed to be better in stopping and less brake dust. I have yet to try out ceramics myself, but will once my brakes are ready for replacement. However, to answer your question about semi-metallic, I believe that carbon metal is much better as far as braking performance, hence, will wear out your rotors faster.

I have used aftermarket pads on toyotas before and have found the best luck with the JAPANESE OEM pads. There is a difference. You need to request the Japanese version of the pads - I have seen many rotors eaten alive by ceramic pads.
