Idle Problems w/ 2.7L

i recently bought a 1997 Tacoma 4wd 2.7l manual and i'm more than pleased! this truck was serviced by the dealer its whole life and was taken care of, but i'm now experiencing some troubles with the idle....it first started at around 72,00 miles with a little rought idle...a tune up seemed to smooth it out a bit but not enough(plugs wires filters oil change) but returned quickly....installed the K&N cold air intake and found that i don't have any vacuum coming from the intake tube to the fuel pressure regulator so i think its running rich....i installed a new idle air control valve because i have seen this problem on the fords but i know this isn't a ford....thank god....my cat is staring to make noise(rattling) which leads me to believe its running rich.....has anyone else ran into this problem? Would love any advice? coil? Intake? valves? clogged cat?
HELP!!!!

thanks Ken

I would start by putting the regular intake and filter on. there's nothing like toyota quaiility filters, one of the best. I don't beleave in putting that cold air stuff on, unless you want to race the darn thing. Its made and factory set for original equipment. Toyota knows what they are doing. KN wants to sell there stuff, and alot of people are fooled by the ping pong ball at the show test. Don't get me wrong, KN has its place, but take that off your toy, unless your have to squeeze out all you can for horsepower to win the $100,000 prize. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the responce Scottstoy....but i have already done that....main reason for the change was that the air filter was so open that i was afraid of getting a bunch of snow on it this winter.... but even with the change it hasn't helped or produce any vacuum at the fuel pressure regulator.....i'm going to try and 't' off vacuum from another source and change the plugs and see what that does....but keep the suggestions coming...thanks Ken
