Steelies Vs. Aluminum Wheels

Hi dudes,I just cannot decide between steel wheels and aluminum.Sure,i like the aluminums because they are 80 pounds lighter(i think te formula is twenty pounds equals 10 horsepower),and they look fantastic. I cant afford the 100+ dolar billets, that are as strong as steel, but a considering a set of cold forged welds at SUMMIT-598.00 total with shipping included.Of course then I know the vehicle will be at risk because someone will want to steal them.I also could get light aluminums ZEE outlaw wheels that noone will wantto steal. But arent alumnums risky?I mean,i have smashed a steal wheel, and it just bent-thatsall.What hapens in the same csae with aluminum? It breaks apart and your car drops down on the axle right?Anyway-ive never seen a military jeep with aluminum, and they are the toughest.what do do

You can't increase horsepower by losing weight. Or do you mean that it takes 10 horsepower to pull 20 pounds? That doesn't make sense either.

For every 100 pounds you shave off your vehicle, you will gain 1/10 of a second.

Lots of guys use aluminum rims offroad, apparently without problems. I have avoided them because I figure that when I hit a rock and bend a steel rim I can pound it back well enough to get home. A cast rim is more likely to break instead of bend.
