Cross-over pipe leaking

Got a '96 Tacoma V6 Ext Cab 4wd 5 sp.......approx 139,000 miles.

Just found out today where the "exhaust leak" is coming.......had it up on a hoist at a local muffler shop and it appears it's coming from the LHS of the Cross-Over pipe.....either the gasket is bad or maybe even worse, the flange may be just plain rotting. If thats the case, does this mean the whole Cross-Over pipe needs to be replaced, along with gaskets? And what a Bi@#$ of a place to get at it.....?

This ain't gonna' be cheap is it?

you might be able to have it welded. It depends on where its cracked and how big the hole/crack is. Its kinda the cheap way, but it should fix it and you probably wont need to buy a whole new one.

If you can find a good welding shop or know someone with a welder, that is the cheapest way to go. I just had a new connector pipe replaced on my 1986 turbo 4X4 by a local welding shop. He charged me $30.00 for the parts and labor, when a new connecting pipe from Advanced Auto was going to be $111.00 plus additional clamps and hangers.

See if you can find a local shop to patch it up for you.
