USA Prerunner squeeking/squeeling?

So first off, I know little to nothing of trucks but Ive been trying to learn. So my prerunner has got 60 k miles on it and everytime i drive around with my window down and I go near a wall or something that can bounce the sound back, I hear a squeeling which sounds like its coming from the engine, yet when i take it in to get serviced it never gets fixed and they seem to never notice it or fix it. The other one is recently I was driving down a bumpy dirt road and when I got off of it, I noticed that there is a squeeking sound or something like a graphite pencil on metal type sound coming from what i think is the tires. Any ideas??? The dealer here seems to never notice anything but that could be that they choose not to. Speaking of which, for tacoma owners, am I better off buying a book and doing all the maintenance items myself instead of going to the dealer for the service? Cause they quoted me 850 bucks here for the 60k tuneup? Thanks guys

When was the last time you had your brakes serviced? That could be the problem. Or you could have a crap load of brake dust that has accumulated in and around the rotor.

$850 for a tuneup? Are you $h!tting me? I paid $250 for a major tuneup before and I thought I was getting bent over! Look at the link below and you can do all that stuff yourself if you have any sort of mechanical abilities.

yea they want 850 for all the stuff listed for the 60000 mile tuneup (granted its a dealership). I think im just gonna take it home and buy a book and do it myself.

As for the squeak, its not brakes i know that much. I notice the sound when im going about 15 mph or more. Its not occurring when i step on the brake. Its the weirdest thing. The squeeling has been attributed to being the fan belt, but before I went with that theory I thought I would ask around. Thanks for the link BTW.
