USA 82 22r ignitor

Hi all. I have an 82 pickup that after 300K miles the ignitor box finaly died. Not complaining but just wondering if there is anywhere to find one for less than $260? Thanks.

Root through this thread, and take in the info. Print it out, and bookmark it for future generations!

I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS APPLIES TO YOUR EARLIER 22R!

The only thing I would change from the info presented is to increase the wattage rating of the tiny little 1000 Ohm (1k Ohm) shown in the photo. THAT LITTLE "LARGE RED ANT" SIZED COMPONENT ON THE END OF THE YELLOW WIRE IN THE PHOTO! Anyone with a GOOD knowlege of resistor wattage ratings can help you out (The wattage rating for resistors are independant of the color bands on the outside...look for physically LARGER resistors, as they have the ability to handle larger currents, and dissipate more heat. A 1000 Ohm, 1/4 watt resistor...the size of a little bee would be a better choice).

Edit!: TOYOTA Truck people generally are "more resourceful" than most. If you can find the same part cheap from a 22r Corolla...go for it!
