I have a 1999 Toyota Tacoma extra cab PreRunner, and I'm going to look at a camper shell this weekend that is advertised as "coming off a 1989 Toyota SR-5 extra-cab".....But he didn't have any exact dimensions. "Should" this shell fit my truck? I'm thinking it should, but don't want to make the hour -long drive if it's not....Thanks for your help...

I don' think the shell will fit. Pre Tacoma beds, that is before '95.5, were shorter and or less wide than Tacoma years. I'm about 90% right that it will not fit.

Cap won't fit, I have a 89 extracab if you want me to measure it for sure let me know. Darrin

Hmmm....DAMN! Darrin- If you could measure your's I'd really appreciate it. My bed measeures out to approximately 60" wide by 74" long.

My cap on my extracab is 76 1/2" long & 59 1/2" wide, it's a "cabhigh" cap so it's 19 1/2" tall, on 89-95 extracab's the cabs lean forward in the rear & the correct cap has the same lean to it, regular cab's had straight up cabs so their caps were straight up in the front, I don't know how the back of the Tacoma's are, I doubt the 89+ cab would look right, but It might be worth a test fit.
